Everyone is welcome to attend this very special seminar with Gilles Brassard & Charles Bennett, prize winners of the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics.

Charles Bennett (IBM Research) and Gilles Brassard (Université de Montréal) were awarded the 2023 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, the world’s largest science prize, for their foundational work in quantum information. They share this prize with David Deutsch and Peter Shor.

In 1984, Gilles Brassard and Charles Bennett invented the ‘BB84’ protocol for quantum cryptography. This marks the birth of quantum cryptography. Their protocol takes advantage of fundamental principles of quantum mechanics and enables secure communication between parties. Nowadays, their protocol is commercially available and forms the core of many other protocols on quantum cryptography and quantum information in general.

Participating is free but registering is required. All information and registration can be found on the website: https://qusoft.org/2022/10/27/qusoft-seminar-special-edition/

On Monday 14 November there will be another event with these two award winners, for a (more) general audience, at the KNAW. More information an registration for the QuSoft/KNAW event: https://www.knaw.nl/bijeenkomsten/brassard-bennett
