On 31 August, CWI’s management team visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) of the University of Twente, and on 1 September they had an online meeting with the VU Amsterdam Faculty of Science. In a run-up to a new strategic plan, 75-year-celebrating CWI consults science faculties.

After EEMCS Dean Joost Kok welcomed the Amsterdam visitors at the UT, CWI director Ton de Kok presented CWI’s intended strategic course. The CWI management team then discussed the national role of CWI with a large group of scientists from the faculty, which they experienced as a very constructive debate. The UT researchers made many suggestions about collaborations in research and education and about the design of a national community of mathematicians and computer scientists.

The visit to the University of Twente is part of a series of visits of CWI to universities with science faculties. Partly on the basis of these visits, CWI’s MT will sharpen CWI's strategic course. This year, the University of Twente celebrates its 60th birthday. CWI is celebrating 75 years of pioneering research.
