CWI core partner EIT ICT Labs

The Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam has been granted the status of core partner in EIT ICT Labs, the European consortium of top research institutes and leading industry partners that aims to accelerate innovation in Europe. EIT ICT Labs is one of the first three Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) selected by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT). As core partner CWI is member of the KICs Association and will share its research resources to contribute added value to the development of KIC.

The Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam has been granted the status of core partner in EIT ICT Labs, the European consortium of top research institutes and leading industry partners that aims to accelerate innovation in Europe. EIT ICT Labs is one of the first three Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) selected by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT). As core partner CWI is member of the KICs Association and will share its research resources to contribute added value to the development of KIC.

The goal of EIT ICT Labs is to bring more innovation in the domain of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to market. To reach their goal EIT ICT Labs connects European organizations in Education, Research and Industry to speed up innovation. CWI will contribute its expertise in transferring knowledge to society, and trade and industry in particular, and through its existing partnerships with a large network of research and industry partners.

CWI has a strong tradition in converting fundamental knowledge into practical applications. Throughout the years 21 spin-off companies have emerged from CWI. Further CWI is actively participating in a network of 200 research partners, both national and international, and carries out collaborations with for instance excellent research institutes and EIT ICT members INRIA (France), SICS (Sweden) and Fraunhofer (Germany).

The Eindhoven Node of EIT ICT Labs currently consists of core partners Philips, 3TU.NIRICT, Novay, CWI and TNO. Next to Eindhoven, EIT ICT Labs operates from Nodes in Berlin, Helsinki, Stockholm and Paris, with associated Nodes in London, Budapest and Trento.
