IntACT is a plugin for the open-source 3D modeling and visualization software Blender. With this plugin, several complementary 3D imaging modalities, such as surface scans and computed tomography, can be combined together. The user can then interactively inspect the multimodal data and virtually cut through the object of interest. The powerful visualization capabilities of Blender can then be used to create beautiful images and videos for research and outreach purposes.
This plugin has been applied in several case studies at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, and the British Museum, London, giving art historians and conservators a reach multimodal picture illuminating the make process, material composition and hidden features of cultural heritage objects.
