Guillermo Romero Moreno is a postdoctoral researcher in the Intelligent & Autonomous Systems group at CWI. His interests are greatly interdisciplinary, as he approaches Computational Social Sciences and Political Sciences from the perspectives of Complex Systems, Network Science, Statistical Physics, Agent-Based Simulations, and Artificial Intelligence.

Guillermo is working as part of the AI, Media and Democracy Lab, where he is modelling complex social networks and studying how agents can be influenced by the spread of fake news, and in turn, influence others. This also involves understanding how different contextual aspects influence such dynamics, and study how game theoretic methods can be designed to prevent spread of disinformation in social networks.

Before coming to Amsterdam, Guillermo was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh studying multimorbidity networks and completed his PhD in the topic of opinion dynamics at the University of Southampton. Some topics he has worked on include external influence in opinion dynamics, party competition and polarisation, inference of disease networks, matching algorithms for Voting Advice Applications, interpretability of black-box models.
