Solving systems of polynomial equations using Khovanskii bases
Khovanskii bases are defined for finitely generated algebras and are analogous to Gröbner bases for ideals, in the sense that a finite Khovanskii basis enables to simplify computations in algebras, for example an algebra membership test. In addition, Khovanskii bases are closely related to toric degenerations of varieties.
In this talk Viktoriia Borovik will discuss an approach to solving polynomial systems using Khovanskii bases. In particular, this approach gives an upper bound for the number of complex solutions. Borovik will illustrate these methods in application to equations coming from nonlinear dynamics and quantum chemistry.
