Semester programmes are the key lever for implementing the new CWI Strategy, aimed at articulating CWI’s national role. On 12 April, the call for semester programme proposals was announced at the NMC. In this way CWI communicated to the members of the mathematics community that we invite them to propose a topic for a semester programme at CWI with CWI researchers in 2024 and 2025.
The announcement will be made at the IPN member meeting on 13 June. In this case CWI offers a workshop to develop topics, which is planned on 3 July.
The workshop is moderated by Wendy Aartsen, who has lots of experience with workshops with scientists generating ideas for joint research. The workshop is prepared in a two-hour session with Wendy in one of the last two weeks of June.
One of the prerequisites for a semester programme is that the topic is within the CWI research scope defined by the focus areas Algorithms, Data and Intelligent Systems, Cryptology and Security, and Quantum Computing.
Participation does not imply that you have to run a semester programme yourself. Your role is to stimulate development of good ideas, inform about the CWI research scope, tell about experiences with semester programmes. Clearly, eventually we are dependent on the interest in the workshop from the IPN membership.
