Dutch Seminar on Optimization (online series) with Juan Peypouquet (Groningen)

The Dutch Seminar on Optimization is an initiative to bring together researchers from the Netherlands and beyond, with topics that are centered around Optimization in a broad sense. We would like to invite all researchers, especially also PhD students, who are working on related topics to join the events. This lecture will be given by Juan Peypouquet (RU Groningen) and is entitled "Function Curvature and Algorithm Complexity in Convex Optimization". Please visit the seminar website for more information.

Speaker: Juan Peypouquet (RU Groningen)

Tile: Function Curvature and Algorithm Complexity in Convex Optimization

Abstract:
The geometry of the graph of the objective function has a direct impact on the complexity of optimization algorithms. In this talk, we will present some basic concepts related to function curvature and discuss their relationship with descent properties  and convergence rates of first-order methods.

The lecture will be given online. Please visit the website for more information and the zoom link.
