Biography
Peter T. S. van der Gulik is a researcher at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam, in the research group Algorithms and Complexity. Peter is working on problems at the interface of biology and computer science. He is interested in structure and origin of the genetic code, conserved hydrogen bonds and conserved hydrophobic interactions in protein folding, the role in the primordial cell of the first coded oligopeptide, and Asgardarchaeal tRNA sets. Up to 2020, Peter van der Gulik is co-author of eight peer-reviewed articles: PMID 19761777, PMID 21358008, PMID 22076654, PMID 23877342, PMID 24178388, PMID 25607813, PMID 27454314 and PMID 28927381; and author of peer-reviewed article PMID 26580656. He defended his Ph.D. thesis, Considerations in Evolutionary Biochemistry (ISBN 978-94-028-1569-6), on September 18, 2019. Prof. dr. Harry Buhrman (QUSOFT, Universiteit van Amsterdam and CWI) and prof. dr. Wouter Hoff (Oklahoma State University) are his thesis advisors, and dr. Dave Speijer (Amsterdam UMC and Universiteit van Amsterdam) is Peter's thesis co-advisor.
