Jasmijn Baaijens, PhD student from CWI’s Life Sciences and Health group, has won the Best Talk Award at the ISMB-HitSeq conference, the world's leading conference on high-throughput genomics.

Baaijens' research, carried out in the Genome Data Science research group that is led by Alexander Schönhuth, has led to a breakthrough in the computational analysis of viral infections. For example, applying her software significantly reduces the risk of overlooking resistance-inducing viral strains in infected people.
