On 29th of May the first Dutch Conference on Software Development Automation (SDA'13) will be held at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica. The central theme of the conference is model-driven development (MDD). The goal is to stimulate knowledge exchange between research in MDD and the application of MDD in industrial practise. The conference targets software developers, software architects and IT managers.

It is well-known that software needs to change continuously. At the same time, software is expected to have ever faster release cycles, and platforms and programming languages enter the field of software engineering at a fast pace. How can we face these challenges? MDD promises to reduce development and maintenance costs by describing software at a higher level of abstraction and using powerful code generators.

SDA'13 provides a platform for speakers from both industry and research to discuss the practical application of domain-specific languages (DSLs), and the tools and techniques to make this possible, using concrete case studies and experience reports. Keynote speaker is Markus Voelter, consultant and researcher in the area of MDD. Voelter has a long list of publications about MDD, product lines, design patterns, code generation, language workbenches and DSLs. He wrote one of the first books on MDD. His last book is "DSL Engineering: Designing, Implementing and Using Domain-Specific Languages".
