Peter Boncz receives Humboldt Research Award

Peter Boncz, researcher in the Database Architectures research group of Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam (CWI) has received the Humboldt Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The Award ceremony took place on 6 June 2013 in Berlin.

 Peter Boncz, researcher in the Database Architectures research group of Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam (CWI) has received the Humboldt Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The Award ceremony took place on 6 June 2013 in Berlin. Prior to the ceremony, the Humboldt Fellows and Award winners were received at a reception by the German Federal President Joachim Gauck.

Boncz was nominated for his scientific and entrepreneural achievements on columnar database systems. He contributed to the inception of MonetDB and was involved in the co-foundation of CWI spin offs Data Distelleries and Vectorwise.
