Researcher at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam Floor Sietsma is awarded by Quest readers as Nerd of the Year 2012. In the race she left her main competitors Diederik Jekel, known from ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ and medical biologist Elza van Deel behind, who finished in second and third place.
Floor Sietsma started her PhD research at CWI three years ago when she just turned seventeen. Before the end of this year she hopes to defend her thesis in the area of epistemic logic. This research area lies at the intersection of computer science and artificial intelligence focuses on modeling information exchange and the dynamics related to this process.
Sietsma future is still open, she has ambitions to become a remedial teacher, but also remains attracted to a career in science. In September she started a bachelor Pedagogy.
