On 30 September 2013 Ronald Cramer, head of the Cryptology group of Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) and a professor of cryptology at the Mathematical Institute of Leiden University, was inaugurated as a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). The fifteen new Dutch KNAW Members were installed during a festive ceremony at the Trippenhuis in Amsterdam, home of the KNAW. 

The KNAW selects its members for their high quality scientific achievements . “I am very pleased with this election to Membership of the KNAW. It is an honour to serve Science as a Member of the Academy”, Cramer said. Previously Cramer was a member of De Jonge Akademie (the Young Academy), a division of the KNAW.
