Ronald Cramer appointed Professor

Ronald Cramer has been appointed Professor of Cryptology at the Mathematical Institute, Leiden University on June 1, 2004. Cramer leads CWI's Cryptology and Information Security research group (PNA5). Cramer previously held positions at Aarhus University and ETH Zürich, and worked from 1992 to 1996 at CWI. Together with his American colleague Victor Shoup he attracted worldwide attention in 1998 with an article on cryptosystems that withstand so-called active attacks. Cramer is the recipient of the 1998 Christiaan Huygens Award of the KNAW.

Together with his American colleague Victor Shoup he attracted worldwide attention in 1998 with an article on cryptosystems that withstand so-called active attacks. Cramer is the recipient of the 1998 Christiaan Huygens Award of the KNAW. His research interests include theory and practice of public key cryptography, secure multi-party computation, foundations and mathematical aspects of cryptology.
