A paper by CWI researchers Tim Baarslag and Michael Kaisers has been selected as one of the most visionary papers of the AAMAS 2017 workshops, the largest and most influential conference in the area of agents and multi-agent systems. The paper will appear in the AAMAS 2017 Workshops Visionary Papers volume, published by Springer. This volume contains one paper selected from each workshop.

The collaboration of Baarslag and Kaisers with the University of Southampton, Delft University of Technology and the University of Southern California is called ‘When will negotiation agents be able to represent us? The challenges and opportunities for autonomous negotiators’. It explores the future challenges for computers that negotiate on our behalf. “Such automated negotiators hold great promise for the future”, says Baarslag, who is part of CWI’s Intelligent and Autonomous Systems research group. “They could become indispensable in emerging application domains such as the smart grid, autonomous driving, and the Internet of Things.”
