Moving Story is the winning project of Startup Weekend Enschede (15-17 March 2013), a competition for startup ideas through mobile and web applications. Moving Story is a social platform for sharing stories linked to specific GPS locations. It enables users to listen to stories while they explore interesting locational features and also to tell their own. The ‘like’ and ‘dislike’ buttons rank the stories in a simple way to ensure quality. CWI researcher Michiel Helvensteijn was part of the winning team and developed a working prototype of the Moving Story Android app within only two days. At the end of the chaotic weekend, the team managed to put together a convincing presentation for the jury.

During the Startup Weekend Enschede students, software developers, graphic designers and business people develop ideas for apps that are judged by a jury at the end of the weekend. The jury consisted of Kees Koolen (Booking.com), Tom Paffen (PPM Oost), Lars Rengersen (winner Startup Weekend 2012), Helma Hoving (University of Twente) and Wouter de Vries (Antagonist). In 2012 the winning app was Truienradar.nl. The Startup Weekend is a global event and held in many cities around the world.
