Mark Peletier has been appointed Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. Currently theme leader of Nonlinear PDEs: Analysis and Scientific Computing (MAS1), Peletier's mathematical interests include variational calculus, theory of PDE's, and modelling. Real-world connections are an important part of Peletier's work; besides exploring the applications of his own mathematical results (in mechanics and mathematical biology, for instance), Peletier has also been active in various projects in Public Understanding of Science, such as the Wiskunde Persdienst, the Eurodiffusion project, and the Grote Griepmeting.
