Han La Poutré appointed professor at Delft University of Technology

Han La Poutré of Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam has been appointed professor of Intelligent Energy Systems at the Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science of Delft University of Technology as of 1 September 2013. It concerns a part-time appointment for one day per week.

La Poutré will focus on research on future energy networks, so-called smart grids. This research is closely related to the development of smart, decentralized ICT systems that are able to control demand for capacity and to anticipate on predictions. In addition to his appointment at Delft, La Poutré will remain affiliated to CWI for four days a week, where he is group leader of the computer science research group Intelligent Systems, which investigates adaptive decision making in multi-actor and uncertain environments. Furthermore, he is a member of CWI's Management Team.

La Poutré is also active in various international organizations, including the Scientific Directory of Schloss Dagstuhl - the Leibniz Center for Informatics - and the Smart Energy Systems action of EIT ICT Labs.
