Andrew Tanenbaum elected Akademiehoogleraar

Andrew Tanenbaum has been elected Akademiehoogleraar by the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences KNAW. Tanenbaum is considered one of the most influential computer scientists in the Netherlands. He is professor of Computer Science at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. In the early Seventies he worked at CWI.

Andrew Tanenbaum has been elected Akademiehoogleraar by the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences KNAW. Tanenbaum is considered one of the most influential computer scientists in the Netherlands. He is professor of Computer Science at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. In the early Seventies he worked at CWI.
The KNAW appoints four to five Akademiehoogleraren ('Academy professors') every year. Akademiehoogleraren are relieved of administrative duties and can concentrate on their research.
