Berry Schoenmakers (TU/e): Recent developments in MP(y)C

MPyC is a Python package introduced in 2018 as a versatile framework for programming MPC solutions. We will discuss aspects of secure multiparty computation taking the development of MPyC as primary example. We will highlight developments in usability, security, performance, deployment of MPyC typical for the wider developments in MPC.

Marten van Dijk (CWI & VU): Data Sharing for training ML models with privacy in mind

Differential private (DP) optimization methods allow parties to collaborate on training a global machine learning model based on local private data. We will explain why using DP to achieve meaningful privacy guarantees significantly hurts accuracy of the final model. We will discuss a recent (2023) development called PAC Privacy (by H. Xiao and S. Devadas) as a proper alternative.
