Bringing together optimisation research and applications.
Optimisation problems are everywhere — from designing the optimal material composition for solar cells, to determining the right radiation dose in cancer treatment, to planning the most efficient train schedules.
However, while general optimisation algorithms can usually provide working solutions, in practice, the approach is usually refined for the specific problem at hand. This adaptation is a tedious and costly process, which begs the question: Can we systematise algorithm tailoring? Or even make some parts automatic?
This event brings together optimisation researchers and application experts (both industrial and scientific) to discuss bespoke optimisation approaches. Are you interested in how leading experts would optimise your problem? Or are you a scientist, looking to stress-test your algorithms? Join us in Amsterdam at our Applications Day, and help our research semester programme collect data on tailoring.
