Values are deep-rooted motivations that influence human behaviour.

As LLMs become increasingly sophisticated, they may act and interact on behalf of humans. Thus, it is important to understand the extent to which LLMs understand and align their behaviour with human values.
In this talk, I will review the increasing body work on the value alignment of LLMs. I will also discuss our work on context-specific values, how an LLM can learn and explain values, and the utility of values in facilitating deliberations on societal issues.
