Informational influence and (bi-)polarization dynamics

We present a multi-agent simulation model of opinion dynamics based on exchange of arguments among individuals.

Our experiments are meant to study the possible causes of the dynamics of polarization in a society. In particular, we test the polarizing effect of (a) varying the arguments’ strengths and (b) implementing different forms of biased communication. Last but not least, we investigate whether, under specific conditions, a moderate degree of polarization may have beneficial effects, in the sense of being truth-conducive for society at large.
