NewHope is the reference implementation of a quantum-resistant key exchange protocol. The software implements a new scheme incorporating the latest practical insights in lattice-based cryptography, making it up to 30 times faster than the previous lattice-based key exchange. Furthermore, it consumes half the bandwidth and offers a much higher security level.

The NewHope software is mainly used in industry and the open source community. For example, it has been integrated in BoringSSL (Google's fork of OpenSSL), and it is being considered for integration in the Tor network. The software was tested by a small portion of the users of the Chrome web browser as part of a large-scale benchmark experiment by Google.
