Biography

1986 M.Sc. in mathematics (TU Eindhoven) 1991 Ph.D. in computer science (Utrecht University) 1991 - 1997 Researcher (postdoc - Princeton Univ.; KNAW fellow - Utrecht Univ.; Leiden Univ.) 1997 – Senior researcher at CWI; group leader IAS till 2016 2001 - Full professor (currently TU Delft, tenured; earlier: Eindhoven, Utrecht; part-time ) 2012 - Member of the Management Team of CWI Research Han La Poutré performs research on multi-agent and computational intelligence techniques, especially for market and optimization approaches for the future Smart Energy Systems (SES). His research is multidisciplinary, in cooperation with electrical engineering and economics. His early research concerned algorithms. He has (co-)chaired program definitions/supervisions and led projects on SES, for NWO, EIT Digital, and Commit2Data; he also (co-)chaired the IEEE CIS technical committee and conferences on computational economics and finance. He was member of the Scientific Directory of Schloss Dagstuhl and the editorial board of ACM TOIT.
