Research

My primary research interests are in Algebraic Geometry, Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Combinatorics and Graph Theory. I am also interested in Algebraic Statistics. In Commutative Algebra monomial ideals have been extensively studied over the last 30 years with great success. The next class of ideals that attracts a lot of attention is the class of binomial ideals, i.e. ideals generated by differences of monomials. My research until now has been concentrated on a special class of binomial ideals, namely toric ideals, and their corresponding varieties, called toric varieties. More specifically, I have studied minimal generating sets of toric ideals, defining equations and parametrizations of toric varieties.
