Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) is a scientific research institute specialized in mathematics and computer science, and is located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
To give focus to our efforts, we concentrate on five broad, societally-relevant themes that align with NWO's strategy:
Research within CWI is organised into the following clusters:
- Probability, Networks and Algorithms - Rob van der Mei
- Software Engineering - Han la Poutré

2012 is the centenary of Alan Turing’s (1912-1954) birth. During his relatively brief life, Turing made an unique impact on mathematics and computer science. He was the founding father of the modern computer and of artificial intelligence, and played an essential role in cracking the Enigma code in World War II. 2012 will be a celebration of Turing’s life and scientific impact.
